Kadınlarla Mor Bülten / Purple Newsletter
The Purple Newsletter is being published quarterly since 2006 with an aim to further strengthen and enliven the communication and solidarity among the HREP solidarity network comprised of trainers, participants and other contributors to the Human Rights Training Program for Women (HREP) that has spread over dozens of cities throughout Turkey over the last two decades. HREP participants not only share their news, experiences, feelings and thoughts on the pages of the Purple Newsletter, but they also creatively express themselves through stories and drawings. Targeting all women who gain awareness of their rights, share solidarity and organize to realize these rights from all around Turkey, the Purple Newsletter borrows its name from the color purple which is a symbol of the women’s movement throughout the world.
The Purple Newsletter became a publication that is followed with interest not just by HREP women, but also their communities over time, echoing the multiplying impact of the program. In the newsletter with hundreds of subscribers, while on one page you may read in her own words the story of a woman who has stopped the violence in her life or found the strength to go back to school, on another you can get information on a rights struggle pursued by the women’s movement in Turkey and/or the world. The news and texts in the newsletter use an accessible language, so women of lower literacy levels are also able to enjoy the newsletter. Everyone can subscribe to the Purple Newsletter.
