Women for Women’s Human Rights-New Ways is a women’s and human rights NGO established in Turkey in 1993.
Our mission is to promote women’s human rights and to support the active and broad participation of women as free individuals and equal citizens in the establishment and maintenance of a democratic and peaceful order at national, regional and international levels.
We focus on:
Exploring the obstacles to and potential solutions for the implementation of women’s human rights
Advocacy and lobbying at national and international levels to achieve legal and policy changes towards the advancement of women’s human rights
Developing national and international training programs on women’s human rights
Providing women’s groups with publications and outreach material to facilitate grassroots organization and opposition to gender discrimination
Forming networks between non-governmental organizations working for democracy, women’s and human rights in Turkey and all around the world.
What is characteristic about WWHR?
WWHR combines activities of action-research, training and outreach at the grassroots and community levels, while also keeping a strong commitment to advocacy and lobbying at the decision-making and policy level.
WWHR puts equal emphasis on its work at the national and the international levels, and acts as a facilitator of solidarity and support networking between the civil society groups in Turkey and abroad.
WWHR was awarded the 1999 AWID Leading Solutions Award by the Association for Women in Development, in recognition of its contributions to advancing gender equality and social justice.
